Colson, Grand Vice Regent who also instructed the members in the ritualistic work of the Fraternity. All of the ceremonies took place at the Hotel Loyal including the installation dinner. The chapter became dormant within two years as enlistments of the members in the military forces during World War I depleted the chapter membership. On November 12, 1919, the chapter was reactivated with Brother C.E. Gilland (Mu) acting as the installing officer.

In 1923 the chapter secured a chapter house which it maintained successfully for several years. The chapter discontinued its activities in 1939 and was dormant for forty years. Three brothers of Mu Omicron Pi Chapter transferred from Wayne State to Creighton University School of Pharmacy and re-organized the chapter. They were: Tom Joseph, Jerry Shaw, and Tom Dyjach. Faculty members involved in the effort included: Dr. Salvatore Greco, Dr. Walter Gloor, Dr. William Tindall, and Dr. Robert Gerraughty. At the Province VIII Assembly on March 4, 1978 in Omaha, hosted by Gamma Epsilon Chapter, Second Grand Vice Regent and Province VIII Supervisor, Dr. Patrick R. The chapter had its origin as a small local fraternity, Mu Pi, which was encouraged by Brother Kimball, a member of the pharmacy faculty, to apply for a charter in Kappa Psi Fraternity. Beta Sigma Chapter was the last chapter to receive a charter in Kappa Psi Fraternity - the joint medical-pharmacy fraternity.

The chapter has enjoyed its own chapter house since 1925. The original house held 15 members. The second house from 1935 to 1957 held 18 brothers and Housemother Mom Van Eaton. In 1957, a tornado which caused great damage in Fargo destroyed the Beta Sigma Chapter House. A temporary house was purchased and occupied until the spring of 1964 when a fine new house, built by the chapter was occupied at 1343 N. University Drive . This house, which was remodeled in 1976-77, is now almost 30 years old and houses 34 brothers.

In 1929 Beta Sigma introduced the well-known song "Kappa Psi Sweetheart," which was composed by Miss Gertrude Murdock, sister of S.I. Murdock, a former chapter member. The song was carried to the 27th Grand Council in December of 1953 by four brothers of Beta Sigma, Odell Krohn, Denneth Krause, Ron Wolfe, and Larry Hylden, and adopted by the Grand Council as the official KY Sweetheart Song. In 1974 Brothers came from all over the country to help beta Sigma celebrate its 50th Anniversary. Special recognition goes to C.E. Miller who served as the chapter's Grand Council Deputy from 1948 to 1970. Our current Grand Council Deputy Dr. Edward Magarian, a longtime faculty member in medicinal chemistry, is the Brother of Executive Director Robert Magarian.
